The Medical City

Major Accomplishment:
  • In early 2009, I took over the problematic Healthcare Information System project. Under my leadership, initial development was completed in 8 months. The system went live in January 2010 and is now the operational hospital information system of SLMC-GC.
Other SLMC-GC software systems under my consultancy and leadership include:

  • Development and integration of Ancillary Results Management System (ARMS-GC)
  • Development of HL7 Gateway for Healthcare
  • HL7 integration of Laboratory Analyzers to ARMS-GC
  • Implementation of Division of Nursing (DON) Intranet using open-source Dokuwiki.
SLMC-QC Software Development / Implementation Projects:
  • Development of Clinical Discharge Summary Online System (CDS-Online)
  • Development of Ancillary Results Management System (ARMS-QC)
  • Implementation of TD-Synergy Laboratory Information System
  • HL7 integration of HIS, ARMS-QC and LIS using Mirth HL7 Interface Engine
  • Created Departmental Knowledge Management System using open-source Dokuwiki
  • Application design of Clinical Outcomes Research Information System
  • Design and development of SLMC Smart Card Management System
Planning and Administrative:
  • Key member in drafting 5-year IT Strategic Plan (2010-2014)
  • Participated in Operational Planning for 2008, 2009 and 2010
  • Served as Clinical Applications Group (CAG) Manager (OIC)
  • Created Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Roadmap for SLMC
  • Initiated creation of Usability and UI Guidelines for hospital Web-based applications
  • Vendor evaluation for Document Management Systems
  • Vendor evaluation for Business Intelligence tools

NLM Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Medical Informatics Training Program)
Sept 2004 to Dec 2006

  • Alternative search interfaces, algorithms and filters for MEDLINE/PubMed searches
  • Use of different communication technologies for the delivery of medical information
  • Use of mobile phones, SMS and related technologies in information search and retrieval
  • Online clinical repositories and tools for the practice of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM)
